The Holgate ward is rich in community groups, all doing great things. When Jane and Tina from the Poppy Road Poppy Project proposed a joint celebration event, we knew we had to join in.

The Fox Inn hosted the event, with a barbecue, bouncy castle, garden games and music from York RI Band. As a free event on a warm sunny Saturday afternoon, there was a great attendance from a diverse selection of people and families. We were also blessed with a visit from the Right Honourable Lord Mayor Sonja Crisp and the civic party.

Of course we had a stand to publicise the Friends of Leeman Park, and alongside us were the Poppy Road Poppy Project , the Holgate Windmill , the West Bank Park Heritage Project , Poppleton Road Memorial Hall , Holgate 1st Scouts, Holgate Community Garden, Holgate Allotment Society, and iTravel York
